The Bandits welcomed the first place Papineau Vikings on Saturday night at the Ray Friel Centre and fired on all cylinders on their way to a 5-0 win.
Both teams were playing with several regulars out of the lineup. Papineau came out fast in the first period getting several good opportunities, but thanks to some brilliant goaltending from Miguel D’Aoust the Bandits were able to keep the score tied at zero going into the second.
“Mig did some huge saves for us early and this gave us confidence going into the second” said Bandits Assistant Captain Gabriel Cuillerier who led the way offensively for the Bandits which included opening the scoring in the second period.
The Bandits played a great team game scoring on their opportunities and playing solid defence. Karl Diotte who has been battling injuries this season showed true form making some great offensive plays. “This is a great sign for us to see Karl coming to form; he will be a huge piece for us if we are to make a serious run this year”, added veteran defenseman Nezz Bédard.
The Bandits hope to keep things going tomorrow as they head to Clarence to face the always tough and well coached Castors. Their next home game will be played on Saturday Nov, 11th when the Morrisburgh Lions come to town.
The Bandits and the Lions will take a moment before the game to honour and remember all those who have and continue to serve and fight for our country so we can be free.
