BANDITS WIN BIG ON HOME ICE

The Bandits seem to have hit their stride with their second straight home win.  On Saturday they faced a very fast and well coached team in the Vankleek Hill Cougars but the Bandits won the game 7-2.  The game was a close game until the third period when the Bandits score four unanswered goals to put away the Cougars.

The Bandits were led by veterans Gab “Spooner” Cuillerier who scored 4 goals including two on the Power play and “Nezz” Bédard who scored once and added three helpers.  The Bandits also once again got stellar goaltending by Miguel D’Aoust.

“This was a great effort by our team.  We came out with a lot of confidence and when Miguel got a few big saves early we seemed to calm down and slowly started to take over the game.  Spooner had a huge night for us which also got the crowd going” said alternate captain Nezz Bédard.

When asked about his performance in net, a still focussed Miguel D’Aoust said “Big game coming up on Friday against Gatineau.”

It felt great to score the goals but the important thing was the win on home ice.  We are focussed to play within the system asked by our coaches and I think tonight we showed what we are capable to do when we do play in the system” added 4 goal scorer “Spooner” Cuillerier

“Although we got 7 tonight, I am most proud of the way our defence is playing and buying into our system.  When they don’t worry about offense they seem to be more successful at it.  This was the case tonight as our D accounted for 10 points.  I thought overall this was our best team game of the season so far and we are very encouraged by that.  We still have a lot to do and a big test is coming up for us on Friday” said Head Coach Dale Murdoch

The Bandits face the very strong Gatineau Hull Volant on Friday at “The Bob” Gatineau has only lost once so far this season.  The Bandits then head back home Saturday the 21st to face for the first time ever the Bytown Royals.
